EDINA, MO -- Early Friday morning officers responed to a call shortly after midnight about a house fire at 507 East Morgan in Edina.
Firefighters were on the scene for nearly four hours trying to contain the blaze that officials believe started in the kitchen of the rental home.
According to the Red Cross, five people were occupying the house at the time of the fire, a man, woman and three children ages at two, eight and twelve.
No one was injured.
The family told the Red Cross they were alerted to the fire by smoke alarms that had just recenly been installed.
It took a dozen firefighters and five trucks to contain the fire.
The family is being assisted by the North Central Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross.
