HANNIBAL, MISSOURI -- A second lawsuit has been filed in federal court, in connection with an incident that allegedly happened on May 30, 2011, in the Macon County jail. This second lawsuit includes Adair County as defendants.

In addition to Macon County Sheriff Robert Dawson, all three Macon County Commissioners and other county employees,     this second suit also names the Adair County Commission, former Presiding Commissioner Gary Jones and Adair County Sheriff Robert Hardwick, as defendants.

This second suit, like the first one, alleges that the victim was sexually assaulted by another inmate, after the jail cell doors were left unlocked during the overnight hours.

The suit states the victim, who was being held on Adair County charges, was transferred from "a modern and well run facility in Adair County, to the Macon County jail under the authorization of the Adair County Sheriff".

The victim is asking for compensation for the injuries and damages he has suffered.
