KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A Heartland couple is recognized for their years in business in the Kirksville community.
At this week's Kirksville Rotary Club meeting, Herb and Mary Sieren were the honorary guests and the recipients of this year's Ruby Green-Frank Baldwin Free Enterprise Award.
The Rotary Club says their business of 35 years, Sieren's Palace in Downtown Kirksville, is an example of exemplary commitment to free enterprise and entrepreneurship.
Herb Sieren said that he and his wife are honored to be recognized.
"We are very humbled. It's a great honor from two great people in the community that helped and has contributed. We feel so great about that so thank you," Sieren said.
Sieren also said that the Kirksville community has played a big part of their success.
"The fact is if it wasn't for people who have supported us, we wouldn't be where we are today," Sieren said. "We have a great following of customers. We have a great staff. It's the reason we are still here today. We will continue to be here for many years so thank you."
The award was established as a tribute to former Rotary Club members and Kirksville businessmen, Ruby Green and Frank Baldwin, who were great examples of people with a distinctive spirit of entrepreneurship and community service.
