Accident leaves woman trapped in car for three days

KEOSAUQUA, IOWA -- One Heartland woman is lucky to be alive after an automobile accident left her pinned in her car for three days.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department received a call about a motor vehicle accident on Hawk Drive northeast of Keosauqua around 3:00 p.m. Monday.

Responding parties found Emily Ann Borgomainerio, 29, trapped in her vehicle, but conscious and alert. She confirmed that the initial accident happened in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 24.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office said the accident happened three to four miles east of Highway 1 on Hawk Drive in Van Buren County. However, they did not comment further on the incident since the accident is still under investigation.

Borgomainerio was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital. A representative of the hospital said she is currently listed in serious condition.

The Keosauqua Fire Department and the Van Buren County Hospital ambulance responded at the scene with the Van Buren County deputies.
