OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Wapello County Board of Supervisors will be meeting Tuesday to vote on the five-year secondary road construction plans for the 2013 fiscal year.

Every year, the Wapello County engineer updates the five year plan.

The budget is projected to be around nine million dollars for the 2013 fiscal year.

“That's high, much higher than normal because that's the year we're going to be completing the Chillicothe Bridge and all the work there. Then we got an I-JOB's grant from the state, but otherwise we get a million dollars a year in local property taxes and several million from the road use tax fund,” says Steve Siegel, Wapello County supervisor.

Projects for the next four years will also be discussed. Siegel believes the further down the road you go, the more guesswork there will be.

“…because things come up and your funding sources change, grow or shrink, or whatever. So it kind of gives us and the public and idea of what our projects are in the near future,” said Siegel.

Siegel sees no reason why the plan won’t pass at the meeting on Tuesday.
