April 16th, marks the beginning of the hunting season for adults. The season looks promising as officials say the warm weather and crop of turkeys makes this year’s opening very promising.

“This is going to be the best spring opener we've had in several years, because we had a good hatch last year, and that coming on the back of several poor hatches,” said Adair Co. conservation agent Marsha Jones. “We've seen a lot of birds over winter and we're looking for a good harvest number this year.”

Although there's chance of a cool front before the season opens, Jones feels by the sixteenth population will be strong
