MACON, MO. -- One person is seriously hurt in a crash at the Macon Sonic.

Macon Police say Doris Rankin, 68, of Macon, was attempting to park on the west side of the building Wednesday afternoon. She told police when pressing on the brake to stop the vehicle, her shoe came off. Her foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator.

Police say the vehicle jumped the curb and struck a Sonic employee walking in front of the vehicle. The victim was thrown onto the ground and the vehicle continued moving forward until it hit the corner of the business. The victim, identified as Donna Thompson, 49, also of Macon, was pinned under the right front tire of the vehicle.

Thompson was transported by ambulance for treatment of serious injuries. She is currently listed in fair condition at University Hospital in Columbia.
