MACON, MO. -- The commanding officer of Troop B of the Missouri Highway Patrol in Macon released results of the “Click It Or Ticket” program held on February 24, 2012.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Missouri participated in this statewide effort to get more motorists to buckle up and save more lives.

Preliminary totals show that during this enforcement campaign, Troop B officers stopped 157 vehicles, which resulted in 32 seat belt citations being issued.

In addition to investigating two traffic crashes and issuing 153 warnings, troopers also either issued citations or made arrests for the following offenses:

5 - Driving While Intoxicated
54 - Speed
3 - C & I
2 - No Child Restraint Seat
7 - Other Hazardous Moving Violations
2 - Stop Sign Violations
6 - Non-moving violations
2 - License Violations
12 - Insurance Violations
3 -  Felony arrests
2 - Misdemeanor drug violations
1- Misdemeanor Warrant Arrest

"Our message is simple, seat belts save lives and prevent injuries," stated Captain James E Wilt.

"Please ensure everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained either with a seat belt or a child restraint system."

Nearly one in four Missouri motorists do not wear their seat belts and seven out of ten Missourians killed in traffic crashes are unbuckled.
