BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- State Representative Kurt Swaim will be holding public forums Saturday in Centerville and Bloomfield.
Swaim will be meeting with constituents in Centerville at 10 a.m. and in Bloomfield at noon at the Rancho Centinela.
This is an opportunity to speak with Representative Swaim about commercial property tax reform, mental health reform and other issues going before the house of representatives.
KTVO spoke with Representative Swaim Friday afternoon at his office in Bloomfield. He shared with us his views on the mental health reform bill, H.R. 646. Swaim believes that his counties are doing just fine when it comes to treating residents with mental health issues. But he believes there is room for improvement.
"In fairness there are some positive aspects of the bill. The concept of making the services more uniform across the state, that is an admirable goal. Sometimes there are concerns with the level of care you get depending upon the county you live in, and so I think we need to upgrade all services," said Swaim.
Representative Swaim also commented that he wants to see more mid-level care within the mental health system.
The public is urged to attend Swaim's events in Centerville and Bloomfield.
