“It’s a night of socializing, a good dinner, and celebrating Ottumwa businesses,” said Partners in Progress President John Burgett.

Burgett handed out six awards to local businesses that contributed to the community last year.

Cargill Meat Solutions and John Deere Ottumwa Works were two of the recipients.

Cargill Meat Solutions Plant Manager Randy Zorn accepted his award on behalf of his team.

“Everyday 2,400 people get together and have a common goal and that’s to contribute to feed the word,” said Zorn.

The Gene Schutlz Award for 2011 was awarded to Steve Baynas.

Other awards were presented to the Cornbelt Cow-Calf Committee, the Antique Airplane Association/Airpower Museum, the Ottumwa Women's Bowling Association, John Deere Ottumwa Works, Blackwell Tire LLC, 98.7 KMGO/105.3 KEDB, and Cargill Meat Solutions.
