KIRKSVILLE, MO -- One Heartland organization had a lunch while announcing their transition.

K-REDI held their annual meeting today at the Kirksville Country Club.

Dozens of members attended to hear the 2011 annual report. Members say that 2011 was a stable year with a slight drop in unemployment but not enough job growth.There was a few great accomplishments including the new A.T. Still University Dental School.

This was also Phil Tate's last meeting with the board as outgoing Director of Job Creation. Tate says what he will miss most about his job is the people.

"It's a great community. I will miss Kirksville, the community of Kirksville, but most of all...the wonderful people. I've made wonderful friends here. That's what I'll really miss," said Tate.

Also at the meeting, Carolyn Chrisman introduced herself to the board as the new Director of Job Creation for K-REDI. She's excited and optimistic about Kirksville future despite the nation's economy.

"I am excited. But from what economists have told us, things are still uncertain for the country as a whole, it will affect Kirksville. I don't want to paint that type of picture," said Chrisman. "I know this community will come together as we've done in the past. We are going to come together. We are going to remain stable. The goal is to grow."

Chrisman plans to create a new strategic plan to help both recruit new and expand old businesses in the city.
 
She says her new job has been a learning experience, but is ready to help the people of Kirksville get back to work.
