KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Kirksville citizens got a chance to hear what the city is doing to make the community a better place to live.
The Kirksville Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee held its annual "State of The City" address at the TCRC Building in Kirksville Monday afternoon.
During the meeting, each city department - Kirksville Police and Fire, Public Works and Engineering, Economic Development and Community Services, Codes and Public Buildings, Parks and Recreation, Kirksville Regional Airport, and Finance - presented their top 10 projects they worked on in 20-11 and what their goals are for this year.
Kirksville Assistant City Manager Melanie Smith says the city is working hard to meet the citizens needs.
"I think the main message that I hope citizens take away from the presentation is that we are working hard for their interests and we certainly want to meet the needs that are out there and we work on that on a day to day basis." Smith said. "So this was to highlight the top things each department has done. We certainly work on a variety of things day to day."
