KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A former Knox County sheriff's deputy, under investigation in Knox County, now has a felony charge filed against him in Adair County.
According to court information, Howard Smith, 39, of Edina Missouri, is charged with a felony bad check charge. KTVO has learned Smith has turned himself in on the charge and posted bond. A bad check charge becomes a felony if the checks total more than $500, or are written on a closed account.
As we reported last week, Smith is being investigated in Knox County for allegedly taking items from the Knox County Sheriff's Office and selling them on EBAY. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Department of Drug and Crime Control is handling the Knox County investigation.
