ATLANTA, MO. -- Two La Plata residents escape from a serious accident with only minor injuries Sunday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, around 2 p.m. near Atlanta, a vehicle driven by Lindsey Hudecz, 27, of Atlanta, was attempting to cross US 63 when she hit the side of another vehicle traveling southbound on US 63. That vehicle was driven by Kelli Cottril, 39, of La Plata.

After being hit, Cottrill's vehicle then ran off the road and struck a utility pole and stop sign, before it came to rest.

Also inside Cottrill's car was Braxton Cottril,12, of La Plata. Both Cottrills were taken to Samaritan Hospital.

The patrol said everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
