KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Salvation Army has almost met their Christmas Campaign goal.

Major Elmer Trapp from the Salvation Army reported that they have raised $81,200, which is 95% of the $85,000 goal.

The Christmas Campaign will continue until January 31st. Trapp believes that the Salvation Army will make their goal by the end of the Campaign.

Trapp would like to put on another challenge to the community of Kirksville and surrounding areas. He would like to reach $100,000 by January 31st.  Trapp stated, "Id like to look at a challenge as something you are really reaching for, and you are saying yes, I can help. So let's go for it. Kirksville deserves a victory!"

Trapp said that it is amazing to see all of the support, and to see people who have been helped by the Salvation Army in the past, now help others.

The money that has been raised was used for Christmas and will be used for programs and services during 2012. Those interested in making a donation can send it to P.O. Box 1048, Kirksville, Missouri 63501. For more information you can also call the Salvation Army directly at 665-7885.
