For our Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know more about the law regarding pit bulls.

The question was the result of a story out of Iowa, in which a disabled Vietnam vet was forced to give up his service dog because it was a pit bull.

He has since won a temporary court order allowing him to keep the dog, for the time being.

One difference we discovered is that the portion of the Kirksville dangerous animal ordinance that refers to pit bulls is not actually a ban. It, instead, restricts the dogs, regarding how they can be kept, and what insurance coverage is required.
