EDINA, MO -- Meet 15-year-old Ryan Strange of Edina. Agriculture has always been a part of his life since. He was raised in his family farm and is a 4th generation farmer. His just loves riding around the field with his tractor.
"It's a good time when you are by yourself and it's quiet and peaceful. I like being out there in the summer when you can watch the crops grow over the time period."
Ryan is very involved with Knox County 4-H and FFA. His projects include working with raising cattle and pigs. But it’s nothing like being behind the wheel and doing chores.
"Every once in a while, I help work ground and drive the tractor around the field. I help brush pastures in the summer. Sometimes I get to help with maintenance and fixing stuff."
Ryan’s hard work and dedication to working on the farm has allowed him to become more independent.
"I'll never forget the first time I was trusted to drive a tractor by myself and my dad trusted me to do the work alone by myself."
Ryan says agriculture is always going to be a part of him.
"I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I've been around it all my life. It's always been there."
Other than life on the farm, Ryan has other hobbies like playing football, basketball, and baseball. He hopes to go to Mizzou for college in the future and study agriculture.
