KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- With more than 10 days left for bell ringers with the Salvation Army, more donations are needed.

According to Major Elmer Trapp, so far the Salvation Army has raised $41,151, which is 48% of their $85,000 goal.

Not only that, volunteers are still needed to help ring the bells.

The Money raised will be used at Christmas and throughout 2012 for programs and services to help those in need.

Major Trapp also says a total of 520 people have signed up for Christmas assistance.

Anyone wanting to adopt a family can call the Salvation Army at (660) 665-7885.

The Salvation Army is also in need of turkeys, new toys and canned food.

Donations can be mailed to: The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1048, Kirksville, Mo. 63501.
