ADAIR COUNTY, MO. -- They come from all over just to experience a true deer hunter's paradise.

Justin Wood and his buddies have arrived in the Heartland from Sanford, Michigan.

They camp out here in Northeast Missouri.

"A problem we have at home is people abuse the system and use other peoples tags. You guys take care of your deer and so far I like what I see," said Wood.

Mike Sanders is in the Heartland from St.Louis.

He was hunting the correct way.

Sanders has been coming to the Heartland to hunt for years.

"I've been hunting here for 28 years or so and they are always nice and courteous. They take care of us and it's a good thing," Sanders said.

Everyone that was checked on Sunday was obeying the law.

" I think we've done really well. It's a good time to check hunters especially if we find a camp where the hunters are successful and they usually have really good things to say," Marsha Jones of the Missouri Department of Conservation said.

The Missouri Department of Conservation reported earlier this week that hunters checked 89,728 deer during the opening weekend of Missouri’s November firearms deer hunt.  That is a decrease of 8.3 percent from 2010.
