Riding the rails with 82 pounds of pot

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- A call received by the Ottumwa Police Department Friday led to the arrest of a California man.

Bradley Joseph Richardson, 31, from Eureka, California was arrested and charged with Possession with the Intent to Deliver Marijuana and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp. Both are class “D” Felonies.

It was determined that Richardson, who had just arrived in Ottumwa off an Amtrak train, was transporting 82 pounds of marijuana.

Richardson is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail with a $5,000 bond.

The Ottumwa Police Department was assisted by the Southeast Iowa Inter-Agency Drug Task Force in the investigation.
