KIRKSVILLE, MO -- This weekend is your chance to see some of Kirksville’s own citizens dance their way to the top.

We stopped by Kirksville High School earlier this week to see the rehearsals for the Kirksville High Dance Team's own version of the popular ABC show "Dancing with the Stars."

The team recruited some of Kirksville’s well know businessmen to be the local celebrities and train them.

The money raised from the event will go towards the dance team and the school’s after prom event.

The audience can expect the event to be lots of fun and have a great time.

“We are doing the cha-cha, jive, and we are adding hip-hop this year which is a really great addition.” Said Suzann Copeland, Kirksville High Dance Team Coach. “It's going to be something different to those who have attended in the past so they can come back again and see the dance types this year.”

Copeland also hopes the community will and come out and show support.

“These guys need our support. These guys are coming out and showing their dance moves to the public.” Copeland said. “It’s a huge event. It is a fun event for the community too. It’s going to be a fun evening and very festive.”

The event is taking place this Saturday at 7pm at Kirksville Primary School.

Tickets will be available at the door for $12. You can get them in advance for $10 at Edna Campbell’s or Kirksville High School Office.

For more information, contact Suzann Copeland at (660) 665-5691.
