JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Missouri State workers were told on Monday that all state offices would be open the day after Thanksgiving.

In the past, the governor's office has been known to sign an executive order closing state offices on what is known as “Black Friday” but starting last year, Gov. Jay Nixon decided not to sign that executive order. That is the case again this year.

Gov. Nixon's spokesperson Scott Holste said things would work similarly to last year.

"The state offices will be open," Holste said. "People will be able to take leave that day just like they would any normal working day."

Last year was the first time in two decades state offices were not closed the day after Thanksgiving.
