Why not to leave home with your dryer running

KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The Kirksville Fire Department responded to an apartment fire early Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 1 p.m. at 703 West Smith Street.

Firefighters told us the tenant came home and found smoke in his apartment.

Fire crews discovered a clothes dryer on fire in a neighboring apartment.

That tenant wasn't home at the time.

Firefighters put the blaze out quickly and hauled the dryer out into the back yard

No injuries were reported.

Damage is estimated at $1,500.
