KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- Two people are behind bars on drug charges following a traffic stop.

According to court papers, Kirksville police officers saw a pickup swerving while traveling on McPherson Street, almost hitting two vehicles.

When the suspect's vehicle was stopped by police, the driver gave a false name and social security number.

The officer also noticed the driver's pupils were dilated and he was constantly moving, showing signs consistent with someone under the influence of methamphetamine.

Stephen Potter, 25, of Batavia Iowa was arrested. Potter is charged with possession of methamphetamine and DWI – alcohol, in addition, he is charged as a persistent offender with two previous DWI convictions in Texas and another arrest earlier this year in Missouri.

Potter is being held in the Adair County Detention Center on $25,000 cash only bond.

Also arrested was a passenger in the truck, Douglas Miller, 22, of Lancaster.

He’s charged with possession of methamphetamine. Miller is also being held on $25,000 cash only bond.
