KIRKSVILLE, MO --
It couldn't have been a more perfect day for the Cape Air Kirksville Air Festival Sunday afternoon.

The show at the Kirksville Regional Airport began with a September 11 Commemorative Ceremony that included a balloon release and music by the Truman State University Brass Choir.

A new act featured at this year's show was the Air Force A-10 West Demonstration Team.

“The sense of patriotism within our team and within our family this weekend couldn't be any stronger. We're honored to be here in Kirksville and even more my sense of personal patriotism and love for our country's never been stronger than it is today and I'm honored to serve, we're honored to fly here in Kirksville today,” said Captain Joe Shetterly, A-10 West Demo Team Pilot.

Captain Shetterly says the A-10 displays the POW-MIA flag in honor of those who served before them.

Other highlights from the 4th annual air show included a wingwalker, helicoptor rides, and aerial performances by several nationally and internationally known pilots.
