OTTUMWA, IOWA -- A Ottumwa man was arrested Monday morning after calling police dispatch and telling them that he had been shot.
According to Ottumwa Police Chief Jim Clark; 22-year-old Michael Todd Bower called police early Monday morning saying several times that he had been shot; and that he was actually chasing the suspect that shot him.
Officers were able to locate Bower near Madison Avenue and U.S. Highway 63 and determined that no shots had been fired and that no one was injured. Because of this, Bower was arrested and charged with False Reports To or Communications With Public Safety Entities. In Iowa, making a false police report is a serious misdemeanor.
Bower was taken to the Wapello County Jail. His bail is pending.
