LA PLATA,MO. -- Despite the rain on Saturday afternoon, the La Plata Soybean Festival turned out to be a complete success!

La Plata hosted its 59th annual Soybean Festival over the holiday weekend.

The festival kicked off on Saturday with the annual "Run through the jungle" and pie baking contest.

A truck and tractor pull contest was held on Sunday.

The events on Monday included a baby show, parade and a La Plata American Idol singing contest.

"Saturday was a rough day with all the rain, but everything has worked out. Sunday was a great day at the carnival and today we are looking to aim for the same success as Sunday." said President of the La Plata Promotional Committee Dusty Sawyer.

A new twist to the festival this year was the carnival.

Wristbands were also available for those who wanted to ride the rides as many times as they could!
