OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Hundreds of people endured the heat and afternoon showers to come to the "Walk on Art Street," held on Saturday, Sept. 3, in downtown Ottumwa.
The event was hosted by Main Street Ottumwa.
68 artists from Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa came to showcase and sell their work.
There were sculptors, painters, photographers, jewelers and potters on hand and the Ottumwa Community Players performed.
One Japanese artist from Oskaloosa used color pencils to create drawings that represented the cultures of Asian women. He described to KTVO how he created his artwork.
"It takes two to three weeks to finish a basic drawing," said Misao Fishwick. "Then I add color; that might take another 10 days to two weeks to finish."
Fishwick said his larger drawings sell for a minimum of $1,000.
The next Main Street Ottumwa event is the History Walk, which is a tour of downtown Ottumwa. That will take place Saturday, Oct. 1.
