Adam Pitman, 23, of Keokuk, Iowa
KEOKUK, IOWA -- Court records show a southeast Iowa woman found dead in her home this week was apparently strangled.
Adam Pitman, 23, of Keokuk was arrested Tuesday following a traffic stop in Fort Madison.
He faces a charge of first-degree murder.
During the traffic stop, police said Pitman told officers he had killed his mother and that they should go to the home he shared with her in Keokuk.
Court records show that police found the body of Rosa Pitman, 46, inside the home with an electrical cord wrapped around her throat.
A preliminary autopsy report has not been released.
Adam Pitman made an initial court appearance Wednesday.
He is being held in the Lee County Jail on $2 million bond.
