Arrest made in solicitation scam

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Breanna E. Goemaat, 20, of Ottumwa was arrested Thursday evening following several complaints of a female going door-to-door soliciting donations for a softball team or league.

Goemaat was charged with three counts of Forgery, three counts of Theft in the Fifth Degree and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

She is accused of obtaining checks as donations, altering and cashing them and then keeping the money for herself. 

The Ottumwa Police Department believes there may be other victims who gave checks to Goemaat. 

Anyone who may have been a victim of the scam is asked to call the Ottumwa Police Department at (641)683-0661.
