DES MOINES, IOWA -- Rescue crews worked to free two people who became stuck on a carnival ride at the Iowa State Fair when it malfunctioned Monday afternoon.
The young adults were stuck on the ride, in which they were strapped into a seat and shot up into the air connected to an elastic band. They were about 60 feet in the air.
A crane was brought in to rescue them.
Fair officials say neither of the riders was hurt.
Fair spokeswoman Lori Chappell says it is not clear what caused the malfunction. She says she is not aware of any past problems with the ride.
A KTVO viewer was at the fair Monday and sent us some photos of the rescue.
