KIRKSVILLE -- They are everywhere and can cost you a pretty penny or two.

Once the ice and snow melted away from one of the worst winters to hit the Heartland, old man winter got his final laugh.

He left behind potholes.

What do you need to look for if you do happen to hit one of these old man winter leftovers?

"Listen for rattles and you know when you are going down the highway look to see if anything is pulling or anything like that. It would be an indication you have some damage," said Tires and Tailpipes mechanic Jeremy Chaumont.

Kirksville Public Works took on a major project over the summer between Cottage Grove and Normal Street.

Streets underwent a major makeover during his time.
