MOULTON/APPANOOSE COUNTY, IOWA -- Appanoose County has been on a roll this past week concerning new jobs. On Tuesday, the new Walmart Supercenter broke ground, which will employ an additional 50 employees than the current store; and on Wednesday, another company broke ground on a new call center in Moulton, Iowa.

Midwest Teleservices International is a telecommunications company based out of North Dakota. The company prides itself in locating its facilities in small towns; and Moulton, Iowa now has the pleasure of hosting one of those facilities.

At a ground breaking Wednesday morning, over 200 people showed up to celebrate the ground breaking of what will be the home of 40 to 100 jobs.

MTI’s CEO Kathy Hett took a few moments to speak with KTVO Wednesday, and she told us that the work ethic and the people in small town America are the best employees she can find.

“The opportunity for us in the smaller towns is exceptional and the turn-over is very low. Jobs aren’t readily available in the smaller communities, and when you come in, people value their job, so they stay with it. We can actually train to a skill level that is much higher than you can in any other place in the country,” said Hett.

Appanoose Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Tod Faris was on hand for the ground breaking. He and other community leaders are happy to finally see good, steady jobs coming to the Heartland.

“We are so excited that this development with MTI is coming here. Having 40 to 100 jobs created here in Appanoose County, base in Moulton, Iowa is just great for us. It couldn’t have come at a better time, because we are needing to fill positions. We have a lot of folks that are out of work, so this is a huge economic boost for our county and really to southern Iowa,” said Faris.

Officials believe that the call center will employ people from surrounding communities as well as Moulton.

Hett did tell KTVO that she would like to see her company expand more in Iowa, but does not know when or where at this time. The company currently has 13 locations throughout North Dakota.
