KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The new school year is right around the corner and getting your kids ready can get a little expensive.

That’s why one salon in Kirksville is stepping in.

All kids 12 and under are invited to come out to Tranquil Elegance Salon and Day spa on Saturday, August 13th

The Salon is giving away free haircuts from 10am to 4pm.

“Our personal goal is to cut at least 100 kid’s hair,” said owner Sam Treece. “Usually a haircut takes anywhere from 15-20 minutes and even though we are only doing it until 4pm, we’re willing to stay a little longer if someone really needs it.”

The entire salon staff will be on hand providing their services for free.

Treece says it’s their way to give back to the community during these tough economic times.

“We just want to give back to the community. The girls at the salon have kids and we all know how expensive it is and we just want to bless people and let them know that there are people out there that care and know what they are going through,” Treece said.

Again, all kids 12 and under are eligible for a free haircut and must have an appointment.

The free back to school haircut event will be taking place at the Tranquil Elegance Salon and Day Spa on Saturday, August 13th from 10am to 4pm. They are located on 921 N. Osteopathy in Kirksville and you can make an appointment by calling 660-665-0870.
