OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Ottumwa Municipal Band will present its final concert of the year at 7 PM, Thursday, July 28 at Central Park. The band will finish its 147th summer season with a “School” theme. Music selected by director Brenda Hagedon will depict various aspects of a typical school year. Featured soloist this week will be Greg Hendrickson on tuba performing “Tuba Capers.”
The complete program includes: “The Star Spangled Banner,” “Kindergarten March,” “Lights Out,” “Tuba Capers,” “In the Miller Mood,” “Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera),” “Summertime,” “Bells Are Ringing,” “Slow Poke,” “Cable at Night,” “Go Home and Tell Your Mother,” “A Plus March,” and “ America, the Beautiful.”
The audience is reminded to bring chairs or blankets for their seating comfort. If it rains the concert will be held in the center court area of Quincy Place Mall. Any change of venue will be announced on Cable Channel 6, GOTV.
The Band will be taking cash donations at our final concert to benefit the Joplin, MO High School Band program that lost everything in the May 22, 2011 tornado that devastated their town. Last week’s donations brought in $312.28. Thanks to those who attended the concert and made a donation.
