OTTUMWA -- The Ottumwa Board of Education is holding a closed meeting Monday evening at 6pm to decide on finalists for its vacant Superintendent position.
During the meeting, the district's search firm, G. Tryon and Associates, will present to board members four to six qualified applicants.
Then, the board will discuss those applicants' qualifications and experience levels in order to narrow the list down to three to four candidates.
The selected candidates will be announced publicly Tuesday morning and interviewed later on that week by various community members.
"They'll be groups of teachers, parents, administrators, and board members that'll ask a variety of questions to these applicants to see which is the best fit," said Ottumwa Community School District Business Manager John Donner.
The Board would like to select someone as soon as possible but with the new school year drawing near, those who work for the district say it'll be tough to get someone to fill the position right away.
"Probably a number of these applicants are under contract now so we'll have to work with the successful applicant and when they are available to the district."
