OTTUMWA -- Construction on the new Ottumwa Job Corps continues.
The new job corps will mean 120 jobs coming to Wapello County.
City administrator Joe Helfenberger has met with the new director of the job corps Mark Douglas. They both say that jobs for those with many different backgrounds are available.
“It's all different levels,” said Helfenberger. “You're going to have to have managers. You're going to have teachers. You're going to have support staff.”
More than 450 students will be at the job corps with more than 300 on campus. This should help surrounding area.
“It’ll be a major influx of money coming in to be open in the community, to help support other jobs in the community.”
Helfenberger credits the work that Indian Hills Community College has done to help with the job corps.
