Plane crashes near Heartland airport

ALBIA, IOWA -- A plane crashed near the Albia airport around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.    

According to Albia police, they found a Cessna 210R single engine plane in a cornfield with severe damage to the front end and right wing.
    
The pilot, Robert Bult was out of the plane when authorities arrived, with several cuts and bruises on his face.
    
He was taken to the Monroe County Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
    
Authorities say Bult was on his way from Colorado to Iowa City when he experienced mechanical failure with the plane.
    
He was attempting an emergency landing when the plane crashed near the airport.
    
The crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
