KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Residents had a chance Wednesday to get a better look on what our state government is doing.

Missouri State Representative Zachary Wyatt held a town hall luncheon at Sweet Expressions Coffee Shop on the square in Kirksville.

Wyatt talked about this past legislative session and his activities. He discussed many of his priorities. One of them is trying to make sure the bills he passed in The State House become legislation.
     .
“We talked about the bills that I passed this year that are now on the governor's desk. We have a community development bill. We have a brain-injury bill for sports players and then we also have a mental health bill.”

Wyatt brought up at the meeting as well that he was chosen as Legislator of The Year, an honor in which he is proud of.

“This year I was chosen to be legislator of the year for my rural community development issues that I got passed in The House and I think that was a great success on behalf of our area. And I think that it's going to improve our area, especially with the lake authority project over in Sullivan County.”

Out of all his priorities, Wyatt has a top one…renewable energy.

“We as Missourians have to have a discussion about, a Missouri discussion about energy and not a national discussion. We have to make sure that we Missourians have energy security. And that's what I have been doing. I've been going around the state this interim talking to different communities in Springfield to St. Louis to Kansas City making sure that they know we as Missourians need to have a stake in renewable energy.>

Another point Wyatt brought up was the importance to trying to reach out to the public on Facebook for issues. He appreciated everyone who came out and has other meetings planned during the summer.
