BURLINGTON, IOWA -- Marriage bonds only go so far.
A Burlington man whose wife was going to testify against him has pleaded guilty to a drug charge. Authorities say 52-year-old Curtis Waddell admitted to manufacturing less than 5 grams of methamphetamine as a subsequent offender.
His wife, 38-year-old Monica Waddell, had agreed to testify against him in exchange for a lesser drug charge against her.
The Waddells were arrested in April.
According to The Hawk Eye, Des Moines County prosecutors say they'll ask the judge to give Curtiss Waddell the maximum sentence for his violation: 15 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for June 27.
Monica Waddell pleaded guilty to the same charge but not as a subsequent offender. Prosecutors say they'll ask the judge to give her probation and a suspended sentence of 10 years.
