NOVINGER, MO -- The city of Novinger also got a chance to show their pride of the red, white, and blue. Also to show support to our fellow troops.

The city held its annual Memorial Day parade on Front Street in downtown Monday afternoon. The event was part of the three day 25th annual Coal Miner Days, which was wrapping up. Veterans, Cadets, Hillbilles, Adair County Officals, and State Represntive Zachary Wyatt just to name a few who took part in the parade.

City Mayor Jeff Dodson said that this is a great opportunity for the community to come togethert and celebrates the city's past, present, and future. Especially while the community is still recovering from the May 13th tornado back in 2009.

"I say we pulled together." Dodson said. "Recovery has been slow but steady. We are doing many things in the community to press forward. The city government is working with others. A lot of things going on within our community that makes this a positive outlook on what's ahead."

Our very own meteorologist, Vanessa Alonso participated in the dunk tank as part of the festivities. There was also a duck dash, baby show, barrel rolling, fear factor contest, and tug of war.

Some of the money raised in this weekend's events is going towards this upcoming summer's event Toolbox Minstry Project in which young indiviuals are coming into the city to help restore the community.
