The Iowa Department of Transportation says a computer problem is affecting the issuance of driver's licenses and nonoperator ID cards as well as vehicle registration services across the state.
The department on Tuesday reported a computer server failure, saying it has caused a "temporary interruption." Spokeswoman Dena Gray-Fisher says in a statement the outage is affecting services at all of the agency's driver's license stations and county treasurer offices that issue driver's licenses and handle vehicle registrations.
Gray-Fisher says officials are working to fix the problem, but she doesn't know how long it may last.
