Cassidy Nicole Ann King, 25, has been charged with abandonment of a corpse. Court documents show King gave birth to the child at home several weeks ago.
King surrendered to Randolph County authorities on Monday, one day after the duffel bag was found on private property west of Higbee by a woman later identified as King's sister.
Investigators say they found a towel bearing King's name with the infant's body. County Coroner Gerald Luntsford estimates the child was in the pond for three weeks.
King was held Tuesday on $20,000 cash bond. Court records did not list an attorney for her.

A Missouri woman has been arrested following the discovery of an infant's body inside a duffel bag floating in a small pond.
A man and his girlfriend spotted and retrieved the bag Sunday while walking on private property in central Missouri's Randolph County.
Sheriff Mark Nichols tells KMZU-FM the investigation led Monday to the arrest of a 25-year-old woman from Moberly. That's about nine miles from the small town of Higbee, where the baby's body was found.
The woman's name was being withheld while charges were pending.
Nichols said based on the condition of the body, it appears the baby died in the past few days. Results of an autopsy had not been announced late Monday afternoon.

An autopsy has been scheduled on the body of an infant found inside a duffel bag in a central Missouri pond.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the baby's body was found Sunday in a small pond about two miles west of Higbee, about 35 miles north of Columbia in Randolph County.
Sheriff Mark Nichols said based on the condition of the corpse, it appears the baby died in the past few days. He said there were no leads in the case.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reported that the autopsy was planned for Monday, but it was unclear when results would be released.
A man and his girlfriend were walking on the private property when they saw the bag floating in the pond and pulled it out.

Authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a newborn infant.
Around 4:15 Sunday afternoon, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to route H, two miles west of Higbee on reference to a newborn infant found dead in a duffle bag.
Upon discovering the bag floating in a small pond and examining its contents, a passerby reported it to authorities.
The cause of death is unknown at this time.
The Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control have been called to assist with the investigation.
The infant's body has been taken to the Boone County medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
The investigation is on-going by the Randolph County Sheriff Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Randolph County Coroner.
