QUEEN CITY, MO. -- There's nothing like a good game of donkey basketball to provide an evening of entertainment.
That's exactly what they were up to at Schuyler County Schools in Queen City Wednesday night.
The event was a big fundraiser for after-prom.
The community versus local celebrities game was the one getting underway when our camera got there.
KTVO's own Ela Soroka got to learn first hand where the phrase “stubborn as a mule” originates as she tried to pull her donkey around the basketball court.
It wasn’t cooperating with her too well.
And KTVO’s Chris Curtis had a learning experience of his own as he had his first-ever dealings with donkeys.
He had a little bit of trouble trying to get on his donkey’s back.
Here are the rules: in order to pass, catch or shoot the ball, you have to be sitting on your donkey.
And to say “that's easier said than done” would be an understatement.
When it was all said and done, the student team won the donkey basketball tournament.
Schuyler County teachers also had a team that took part.
Heather Western, a member of the After-prom Committee, said they also had a concession stand at the event to raise even more money for after-prom activities.
All proceeds from admission also go toward the event.
