KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- After several delays over the past three years, the trial of a Kirksville dentist is set to happen in June.

Dr. Steve Barber, 72, of Kirksville is scheduled to go on trial in Adair County Circuit Court on June 1.

Barber is charged with two felony counts of tampering with a victim/witness in the sex crimes case of former longtime Kirksville attorney Tom Oswald.

Barber's jury trial is scheduled to last three days, June 1-3.

Judge Karl DeMarce will preside.

Barber suffered a couple of strokes last year, forcing his trial to be postponed.

The defendant's attorney claimed the strokes made him unable to contribute to his defense.

An independent medical exam requested by Adair County Prosecutor Matt Wilson determined Barber was medically able to participate in his defense.
