JEFFERSON CITY, MO (AP) --  U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill is taking a 15-city tour around Missouri this week to meet with parents, teachers, students and administrators about potential changes to the federal education law.

McCaskill is kicking off her events Monday in the eastern Missouri cities of Festus, St. Charles, Warrenton and Troy. She
says the "roundtable discussions" are a way to gather opinions before an expected debate on reauthorizing the federal No Child Left Behind Act.

The 2001 law expanded the federal government's role in education and set goals for all students to be proficient in math and reading by 2014. Many school officials contend that is impossible to achieve.

McCaskill says the one-size-fits-all approach has been a failure and that changes will have to be made to the law.
