OTTUMWA, IA -- In continuing our series, “Faces of Faith,” we interviewed Evangelist Chuck Cofty at the Calvary Baptist Church in Ottumwa on Sunday.
Doctor Cofty told KTVO that he was led to Christianity by his wife in the late 1970s when he returned from the Vietnam War.
Cofty served his country with pride and honor while in the United States Marine Corps. He was awarded the Bronze Star, a Combat Action Ribbon, a Purple Heart, a Meritorious Service Medal and a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation. Cofty is also the recipient of two Presidential Unit Citations.
Doctor Cofty left the Marine Corps after 22 years of service to become a minister. He has founded and has preached at churches all over the United States. Currently, he preaches for Sharper Sword Ministries in Charlotte, North Carolina.
For the past 30 years Cofty has been preaching the same simple message…
“My message is a message of to know the lord as your savior. We’re not trying to get people to be a Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran or Pentecostal. We’re trying to get people to be Christian the Bible way,” said Cofty
Doctor Cofty will be at the Calvary Baptist Church until this Wednesday. If you would like more information visit their website.
