KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- Scouts across nine counties of Northeast Missouri (Adair, Knox, Linn, Macon, Putnam, Scotland, Schuyler, Shelby and Sullivan) will take to the streets on Saturday, March 26 at 9 a.m., looking for bags of food to help feed those in need. The effort is part of the Boy Scouts' Scouting for Food good turn, which helps teach boys the value of helping others.

Prior to Saturday more than 7,000 door tag reminders will be placed on the doors of homes in the nine northeast Missouri counties, reminding residents to support the drive and help those who are in need.  An estimated 400 Scouts and leaders will participate in the project and they hope to collect 3,000 pounds of food for local food pantries.

Residents in the Kirksville area who do not receive a door tag are encouraged to take their food donations to the Christian Community Food Bank, located at the corner of Osteopathy Street and Burton Street, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26 or call Dawn at 216-7282 to arrange for their food donation to be picked up.  Residents who live outside of Kirksville and have a food donation that is missed by the Scouts can take the food donation to a C&R market if you have one in your area, or to your local food pantry.
