Second man arrested in armed robbery case

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- A second Ottumwa man has been arrested for an armed robbery that took place last summer.

In the early morning hours of August 1, 2010, two men reported being robbed at gunpoint in the 500 Block of Ottumwa Street.  The victims reported an MP3 player, two cellular telephones, and keys taken during the robbery.

On March 23, 2011 at approximately 11:25 a.m., Ricky Darryl Medina, 18, of 1011 East 2nd Street was also arrested and charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree as a result of the robbery investigation.

Robert Anthony Carillo, 24, of 2270 West 2nd Street was arrested last week and faces the same charges.

Robbery in the 1st Degree is a violation of Chapter 711.2 of the Code of Iowa and is a Class “B” Felony.  Carillo and Medina remain in the Wapello County Jail with bond set at $25,000.00 each.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected.
