KIRKSVILLE, MO --
K-REDI Director of Job Creation Phil Tate says an expansion is still in the works for an existing manufacturer in Kirksville, but no new details yet.
Tate made that announcement at February's annual meeting for the Kirksville Regional Economic Development Incorporated, but couldn't release the news yet.
He said today that is still the case, but hopes to get an answer from the company within ten days time.
As far as other K-REDI leads go, there were four prospects last month for businesses looking into the area.
Kirksville didn't meet the requirements for three of them, but one did request utility information.
“This was being looked at by a company in more than one state and I think there were several sites in the state of Missouri that also were submitted. Now in our case, they have come back to us for additional information which is a good sign but that would be very, very early stage in the working of a project,” Tate said.
This prospective business is a food processing facility which does not require an existing building.
K-REDI is also in the process of brainstorming new ideas for the upcoming year, and want to think about long-term plans, like what Kirksville will be like in five years.
